Magazines in with the onions,
a cat fell asleep on the windowsill. For heaven’s sake, don’t store the Cheez Whiz in the refrigerator. It’ll be fine on its own in a cabinet with the green beans. A breakthrough in black magic
wouldn’t surprise me as much as a major change in radio. There are four real truths in this world. One is that love beats all. Roger that. Another one is that truth is what you make it. Beat that with a stick. A third one is that we all die. It remains to be seen if we turn into something else. But the fourth truth, that’s mine. It is true that the words I spoke this morning are travelling around space and will never change, Just like radio. As expected, my radio day careened out of control.
I drove from Munster to Hammond, to Crown Point to Schererville to north Hammond to Portage to Highland and back to Munster. In between, I talked to more than 100 people. It’s the life of local radio. The day culminated with Alexis and I having dinner at Tradition’s in Highland. We ran into seven different groups of people that we know, all of whom listen or watch the show. That’s pretty cool. It’s just how it goes. You gotta wonder where radio is really headed.
The whole purpose of this blog is to chronicle its death, which, if the three or four of you ever stop to think about it, is kind of morbid. Have you ever read a story or watched a movie in which the narrator has as a stated purpose to chronicle his or her own death? |
I run radio stations and a streaming video network in Hammond, Ind., and write this blog.
