It's 8:18am on a rainy Friday morning. I get a few minutes to jot some stuff down while Mayor Tom of Hammond buys some morning time. It's been that way for generations on Friday mornings. Continue the tradition.
Today's morning topic centered on Illinois Senator Mark Kirk's comment - "he's a bro w no ho.... that's how we say it on the South Side of Chicago."
Divergent views, as you can tell from my notes above. Jan says there's a double standard, that Rappers can say 'ho. "They can say it but when we do, we're racist. Double standard." Chuck says the PC police make it so you can't make a joke anymore. Seinfeld won't do college campuses because of it. Lisa says it hints of how Kirk really feels toward women and black people. You get the picture. Local American classic talk radio.
We also took it upon us to talk about Bruce slash Caitlyn Jenner. I brought in the Vanity Fair cover and described how Bruce slash Caitlyn looks pretty good for a 65-year-old woman. I made some jokes, of course, and the PC police would probably smack me down a few notches. Caller Bob and a couple texters said it sounds like I'm getting hot and bothered over the photos - 219 texter - "JED, you need to take a cold shower."
Got a few nastygrams like always. Here's one regarding my ongoing smart aleck about Schererville and Cedar Lake - the "obstinate bastards" in their opposition to an aggregated dispatch center for Lake County. Text -
"The fishbelly bastard is so jealous of the classy and wealthy people in Schererville while he's stuck on a redneck radio station bought at a tax sale..."
Time to go back on the radio. A half hour about domestic violence.
