Christmas Eve Eve Radio

Just finished announcing the Munster 62, Lake Central 54 game in St. John. Munster Coach Mike Hackett has never lost in the Lake Central gym, which is about to be replaced with a whole new one. Minnow and I have been announcing the Munster-LC game for years. Tradition.
   It's my first basketball announcing of the year. Now we kick it into high gear. Maybe eight games in Jan, 12 or so in Feb and about that in March. Usually I announce six games in one week during sectionals.
   Today's morning show was a lot of fun. You guys were in a mood, maybe because it's Tuesday and that's the day MX showers. Sue stopped by with Oreo balls (not to be confused with Shwedde Balls, as she said, not me) and Karen from the North Shore brought me a huge tin of Chicago Kernel popcorn. Johnny Salzeider dropped off more taffy. Producer Ryan gave me some Cal paraphernalia, including a tee shirt for a future grandchild. Hope he doesn't know something I don't.
   

​ You callers were all over the place, too. Will from Southeast Side of Chicago got crazy about killing police and MadMac ranted about that. Deb told a story about being a good friend with a serial rapist. Walt, Carl from Hessville, Cindy, you get the picture.
    Granola Bob made an interesting observation - we may be the only area in America in which you mark milestones, remember where you were, when our elected leaders got indicted. Think about it. Hmm.
   .... Anyways it's almost midnight and time to go to bed to get up and do more radio. Tomorrow's Christmas Eve and the pressure to press the news lessens, lets you remember why you love radio in the first place. I sure got a taste of that this morning. Ryan and I got off the air and just shook our heads.
    You can't make this stuff up, Ryan said. Again.
