We'll start with Lowell and Lake Central on Tuesday night. And then Gary West Side vs. Highland and Munster vs. East Chicago Central on Wednesday. On Friday, there'll be two games and then on Saturday for the championship it'll only be one game. I believe that's six total. I'll let you know how it goes.
Alexis and I got a little taste of East Chicago today. Of the three or four of you who read this blog about My American, Radio Life, maybe one of you knew Dennis Koliboski. He died a few days ago and his brothers held a little get-together after the funeral today at The Goodfellas Club in East Chicago. You come out after a couple of hours of drinking really cold beer in the dark to an oil tank farm and a Super Taco sign. Lock your doors while you're in there. Remember why you're here. Dennis died at 57. It's just sad. Above is a picture of his golf clubs. Note the Woodman Country Club sign. Rest in Peace, Dennis, in what very well could be that perfectly-manicured fairway in the sky. Death, death Rotunda, Rotunda You thought I was dead, but I stunned ya', I stunned ya' It's 6:44 on a Sunday morning and the sun just came up bright and yellow over the backyard so it's as good a time as any to tell the three or four of you more about My American, Radio Life.
Boy was I wrong on the Andrean thing, by the way. I told you in the last installment that producer Ryan Walsh and I met up with the Whelan family and Ed Anderson on Friday night after the Bishop Noll-Andrean game... and that Shannon told us all about the seemingly anti-Mexican things that the Andrean cheering section was doing. 1. a sign that said "ESPN Deportes" 2. a fathead of Donald Trump 3. chants like "Build the Wall" and "You are racist" It’s 9:04pm on Friday night and I made the mistake of laying down for a short nap at 4pm and just woke up. Sometimes you don’t know radio exhaustion is there until you lay down on a Friday evening and your wife’s not around so you sleep for five hours. And I swear to the three or four of you – I didn’t even have anything to drink.
Drinkie winkie Support yourself. When the wife goes away Don’t hire an elf. My phone’s blowing up with reports from the Bishop Noll at Andrean basketball game, which we are not broadcasting on WJOB. We’re doing the battle of 119th Street between Clark and Whiting. Bishop Noll just beat Andrean in a close one. Those two Catholic schools don’t like each other. |
