Instead, I’ll blog with the three or four of you. Did you ever think you’d be a blog reader? Did the three or four of you ever think that you’d have a relationship with a guy who talks every morning on WJOB? Do you wear deodorant every day? Have you changed your sheets in the last week?
It’s 4am on Saturday morning and I wish like hell I could sleep in until six. It doesn’t happen. It’s the curse of the morning radio host. Even on your days off, you wake up ready to talk.
Instead, I’ll blog with the three or four of you. Did you ever think you’d be a blog reader? Did the three or four of you ever think that you’d have a relationship with a guy who talks every morning on WJOB? Do you wear deodorant every day? Have you changed your sheets in the last week? It’s hard to underestimate the importance of what went on today in Washington. James Comey, the former head of the FBI, accused our president of telling “lies, plain and simple.” The three or four of you may have watched it live with me. I went to Planet Fitness after doing the radio show and got on the treadmill. One of the cool things about doing this is that there are 10 huge TVs on the wall. You can watch ten channels at once, catching up on all of your current events in a 20-minute sweat on a treadmill. I’ve been wondering for a while if we can continue indefinitely the kind of radio that we do.
If you really think about it, what we do isn’t really done that often anymore. We come on the air and open up the phone lines and people say what they want to say and then we all move on. This has worked pretty well for 93 years at WJOB. It started before any of the three or four of you who read my blog were even born. NCAA baseball regionals. Lexington, KY. It’s 8:15am at the Doubletree Inn by Hilton. North Carolina State 7, Indiana 6 in 12 innings. That sucks.
In the top of the 12th inning, at close to midnight on a perfect Kentucky evening, North Carolina scored two runs as IU committed a couple of really big errors. The big blow was a double by Joe Dunand, the nephew of A-rod. Still, IU could have gotten out of the inning without the errors. |
I run radio stations and a streaming video network in Hammond, Ind., and write this blog.
