lake county sheriff john buncich (sausage-fingers) was in a hurry so he rode the government helicopter to the wjob studios, where he landed on the roof and slithered into the broadcast booth down one of the support poles. several wjob callers inquired if on the way the sheriff cruised over dave woerpel's house to check out this spring's crop of really bad weed. on wednesdays i only do a 2.5 hour show. it's a whole different ballgame from the four-plus hours show. then it's breakfast with jean the web designer, angel the video wunderkind, and ryan, my producer at commander restaurant in munster for eggs, potatoes, bacon... and talk about how to improve our social media and video presence.
947am on a tuesday morning after about four hours of radio. it's holy week and little traffic and the lake effect snow that was supposed to come our way stayed to the east in porter county.
i carried a much better energy today but ran out of any semblance of professionalism about 830 so had a full hour to fill with half a brain left. bernie zemen the town councilman from highland, ind., came in with absolutely no material so i had to go slapstick for a while. that worked i suppose unless you were annoyed by two region rats yukking it up and laughing at our own jokes. 222 on a monday morning
sometimes as a morning radio host you worry about what you'll talk about the next morning. sometimes you think about it enough that you really can't sleep and you wind up watching movies until about two hours before you have to wake up... which extends the general uneasiness so you wind up dreaming about not finishing an assignment for class on time or having a little trouble dialing a rotary telephone during a fire. |
I run radio stations and a streaming video network in Hammond, Ind., and write this blog.
