Wednesday night, 6:43pm. East Chicago 4A sectional from the John A Barato Center
So I thought I'd do something different and just blog for the three or four while the Highland-West Side is going on. It's 41-34, West Side is winning. Highland's in a 3-2 zone and they're doing a decent enough job at that, but they're having a tough time bringing the ball up against the press.
Nephew Al came with me again, and he's reading this as I blog it. I'm not sure if when it's all said and done he'll look back and say - "Hey, Uncle Jim, remember that time at the West Side - Highland game when you blogged through the game live... and I watched you?"

There's a good three thousand people here right now, but with 3:50 left in the Highland-West Side game, the three or four of you know as well as anyone else that they're not here to see this game. They're waiting for the rematch between East Chicago and Munster. Remember last year? I was sitting in this exact seat one year and one day ago when Drew Hackett scored 51 points for Munster to upset EC at the John A Barato Center. EC was supposed to go downstate with Hiron Edwards and Damian Jefferson. Munster coach Hackett, Drew's dad, played some gamesmanship and got in an argument with EC coach Abe Brown. They both got technicals and had to sit on the bench for the last three quarters of the game. That hurt EC a lot. Abe always walked the sidelines and directed traffic. With Abe confined to the bench, his players often looked lost.
Where did all of this lead? The three or four of you Region Rats know what happened over the summer. Athletic director Trino Cavasos and some others fired Abe and brought back Pete Trgovich Sr., the wonder boy who helped win state at EC Washington in 1971 and then played for John Wooden at UCLA. It'll be Pete on the bench this year, not Abe. My call?
EC wins by 20.

Pretty decent show this morning. Andy Qunell, the outspoken Republican amongst the lot, came in early and analyzed last night's primaries. Andy doesn't like Trump. I don't know what he's gonna do when the Donald wins the nomination. We'll talk about it at length and ad nauseum at his 50th birthday party on Saturday night. I'm not sure if it's a surprise party or not, but what's the difference?
It's only the three or four of you anyhows. West Side 46, Highland 41 with 46.3 seconds left. Looks like West Side vs. East Chicago and Lowell vs. Morton for Friday night. Should be good.
